The Idaho Smoke ‘n’ Fire 400 is a 400ish mile self-supported mountain bike route traversing some of Idaho’s diverse geography on two-track, big gravel and dirt Forest Service roads, challenging singletrack and some paved roads.
Our race will honor the legacy of Jason Delgadillo, a veteran of the SnF and reconnaissance expert, who was tragically taken from us on May 12th doing what he loved, mountain biking. Jason leaves behind his beautiful wife, Dana, and five children. Please consider donating to the GoFundMe page set up by his partner, Kirk, in their Boise Trails project.
Our 5th annual event will begin (and end) in downtown Boise, Idaho in historic Hyde Park. The start date for 2018 will be Wednesday, September 5th. This year we were forced to move the date up a week due to an International Rally Car event taking place in the Placerville area. Expect warmer temps.
There is no registration fee, no support and no prize money. SPOT tracker use is not mandatory, but encouraged and live tracking of the event will be provided by Trackleaders.
The Smoke ‘n’ Fire route travels through remote areas, however, there are sufficient resupply opportunities available. Besides the physical challenge there are mental challenges to this route.
This is a self-supported event so please read the rules and be prepared for the unexpected.
The ride departs from 13th and Eastman in Hyde Park. There will be a neutral rollout through downtown, then along the Greenbelt to the edge of town. Sometimes fast – sometimes slow.
