The Idaho Smoke ‘n’ Fire 400 is a 400ish mile self-supported mountain bike route traversing some of Idaho’s diverse geography on two-track, big gravel and dirt Forest Service roads, singletrack and some paved roads.
The 4th annual event in 2017 will begin (and end) in downtown Boise, Idaho in historic Hyde Park. The September start date for 2017 will be determined by mid-January, 2017.
There is no registration fee, no support and no prize money. SPOT tracker use is not mandatory, but encouraged and live tracking of the event will be provided by Trackleaders.
The Smoke ‘n’ Fire route travels through remote areas, however, there are sufficient resupply opportunities available. Besides the physical challenge there are mental challenges to this route and it is also a great test of your bikepacking kit and gear.
This is a self-supported event so please read the rules and be prepared for the unexpected.
We will have an informal get together for those interested the evening before the start. We will be meeting at 6:00pm at the Sun Ray Cafe at 1602 N. 13th St. They have great food, drink and a fine tap selection.
If you are renting a SPOT Tracker please show up at 4:30pm so we can get you dialed in. Rented SPOT devices are shipped to us and we will then hand them out to you at this time.
The ride departs from 13th and Eastman in Hyde Park. There will be a neutral rollout through downtown, then along the Greenbelt to the edge of town.
